Education and Professional Accomplishments
A proud 4th-generation resident of Sherwood, Council Member Townsend graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1992 and went on to earn her status as an alumnus and Letterman of Arkansas State University. Professionally, she serves as the Executive Officer for the Home Builders Association of Greater Little Rock and extends her leadership by representing Region D (including NE, KS, MO, OK, TX, AR, MS, and LA) as the EOC Director for the National Association of Home Builders. Additionally, Council Member Townsend owns MJT Design Group, providing dedicated marketing and design support to small businesses. In recognition of her professional excellence, she was honored as one of AMP (Arkansas Money and Politics) Magazine’s Top 100 Professionals in Arkansas in 2022.
Memberships
Deeply committed to her community, Council Member Townsend has been an active presence in Sherwood’s local schools for over 16 years. She has held roles as PTA President for both Clinton Elementary and Sylvan Hills Middle Schools, served as President of the Sylvan Hills Cheer Boosters, and continues her involvement with the Sylvan Hills Band Boosters. Today, she remains dedicated by serving as Vice President of the Sylvan Hills High School Alumni Association and as a board member of the Sherwood Animal Shelter Helpers. She is also a member of the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce.
Personal Life
Council Member Townsend has been happily married to her husband, James, since 2019. Together, they have three children: Madison, who attends Tyler Community College in Tyler, Texas; Tori-Beth, a pre-med student at Hendrix College; and James Jr., who plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas in the fall of 2025. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, engaging in volunteer work within the community, cooking, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
