Sales Tax Bond Issue – Projects Update
Jacksonville Cato (Phase I) – Capital Paving and Construction (CPC)
The Jacksonville Cato Road project (Phase I) is well underway, with the completion of the seven-barrel culvert and pedestrian underpass. Most of the stormwater piping has been installed. Crews worked during the Jacksonville Cato Elementary winter break to install stormwater piping across the driveways.
The south side of the roundabouts have been constructed, allowing for the diverting of eastbound traffic and crews to prepare the north side of the roadbed. Rough grading has been completed for the sidewalk and multi-use path areas.
Several layers of asphalt have been applied as leveling courses, elevating the roadway out of the floodplain. Several layers of asphalt must be completed before the finished driving surface is applied.
With good weather in the forecast, this project is on schedule, with a target end date projected to be August 2025.
